Home Decor Closet
Hey y’al! Happy Tuesday! Not to toot my own horn or anything but, I’m on a roll this month with cleaning out our closets all around our home. Over the last two years I feel like they were just abandoned and not organized in the least. They were just pure dumping and hiding clutter spaces. It’s kind of like what you did when your mom would ask you to clean your room as a kid where you would just hide all your mess in the closet. I’ve been wanting to make our basement bedroom closet into a home decor closet and also a place to store all my wrapping supplies. I had my wrapping supplies all over the house and it was making me crazy trying to figure out what I put where when I went to wrap a gift. When I told my husband that I wanted to make it a wrapping station he said “well you’ll need a mic for that”. He’s almost as corny as me…almost! So without further ado. Here is my home decor closet tour!
If you’re a regular little birdie who visits my blogs daily you know I like to show y’all the before photo first, even if it makes me feel so vulnerable. Yikes is all I have to say! Basically a dumping ground of random crap including trash bags of extra bedding, podiatry sandals, bed risers and our “bug out” bags.
I think my favorite feature in this closet is my new ribbon holder! I bought two of these wooden cassette tape holders at Goodwill years ago that have just been sitting in our garage collecting dust. So I decided to repurpose one of them into a ribbon holder. It’s always so gratifying to me when I can repurpose a thrifted item.
I also hung up this wooden coat rack that I also got at Goodwill for like $2 so I could hang gift bags from it.
I’ve had this rubbermaid tower since my freshman year of college and it has somehow held up through 15 moves, yes you read that right. I’ve moved 15 times in a period of 16 years! That’s some serious durable plastic! I decided to keep all my extra candles, gift bows, and other bits and bobs in here. On the top of this tower I just put some wrapping essentials like tape, scissors, pens and some extra tissue paper. I also hung some gift tags on the wall so I knew exactly where they were. I can’t wait for the holiday season now that I have this wrapping station! I almost feel like it’s my own little mini store in away.
While I was doing this project I told my husband to please slap me if I ever try and buy wrapping paper on clearance after the holidays. I didn’t realize how much we’d accumulated over the years. I just placed them all in this pink crate so they wouldn’t fall everywhere.
I wanted a place where I could see my extra pillows and pillow covers, so I can now shop my stash instead of purchasing new stuff. At least that’s what I’m telling myself!
Up top I put some extra pillows, home decor tchotchkes and floral accessories.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little tour of our home decor/wrapping closet! Thank you for flying by my nest!
xoxo,
Robyn 🙂
