How to Create an Easy Tablescape
Hey y’all! Over on Instagram I shared an IGTV video for a quick and easy tablescape that would be perfect for that time in between Summer and Fall. Today I’m going to give you some tips on how to create an easy tablescape for those times that you want to make your dinners a little extra special. I hope you enjoy!
Before I start I like to clean my table with some wood spray. My favorite cleaner for my wood table is this one by Method. It has the smell of almonds an it leaves your table looking shiny not greasy.
I recently picked up these buffalo check chargers from Hobby Lobby. They are apart of their Fall collection so they were 40% off. I had been eyeing these for awhile, so I’m so glad I got them. I think you can use buffalo check any time of year, but I especially love it for Fall.
I like creating layers with my place setting. So I typically have a charger and at least two plates. The white plates are from Pottery Barn. Believe it or not I actually found these at Goodwill. I then topped them with a smaller salad plate from Target.
I wanted to display the buffalo check napkins in a different way, so I rolled them up and stuffed them in the water glasses. Its just an easier way to display and it looks really cute.
The centerpiece is one of my favorite farmhouse finds. This uneven scale is so versatile. I like switching out the decor on the plates for each season. I also like that it doesn’t block the view of the people across from you at that table. There is nothing worse than not being able to see over the centerpiece.
For this tablescape I decided it needed a pop of color, so I thought pears where the perfect choice. I love the pop of bright green on this rather neutral base. You can also use fresh flowers as well. I just had these pears laying around so I utilized those. You could also attach name place cards to the pears so people know where they are sitting if you’re having a dinner party.
Adding ambience will really make your tablescape come to life. You can easily do this by adding some candles. I just used these tapered candle sticks from Hobby Lobby.
One extra step that I like to do is to have ice water in a carafe with some sliced lemons floating in it. That way you don’t have to keep getting up when someone needs more water.
6 Easy Tips to Create Your Tablescape

- Unique way to display napkins
- Iced water carafe with sliced lemons
- Pop of color with flowers or fruit
- Centerpiece that doesn’t block view of other guests
- Ambiance with candles
