Shiplap Faux Sho!!!
Cherry on the top! That’s what I like to say about my latest DIY project. We recently had our kitchen updated and I decided to save the last project for myself. I love the look of shiplap but I was a little hesitant to take the plunge and put real shiplap on our kitchen bar. So when I came across this shiplap wallcovering by Devine Color sold at Target I couldnt wait to take the plunge! Keep in mind the style I used called mirage is only sold online. Target does sell other wall coverings by Devine Color in store so check out all the cool choices!
Kitchen Bar Before-
The hardest part was trying to line up the lines of the shiplap design, but with some patience I finally figured it out. I used 1 1/2 rolls on this project. One roll covers 27.5 sq ft . It’s $34.99 per roll, so not a huge break the bank project. It took me around 2 1/2 hours to get it just right. Keep in mind I’m kind of a perfectionist when it comes to these things so some of you pros might be able to slap it up in 1 hour! I suggest using an X-ACTO knife to get a straight precise cut on the edges. I got creative and used our veggie scooper seen below to smooth out any air bubbles but be careful not to get your tool of choice caught on any rough spots on the surface otherwise you will end up with a rip in your paper.
The beauty of this product is that it peels right off if you mess up. It doesn’t cling to the paint already on the wall so it’s perfect for those of you who rent! It also has some texture to it so it really looks like the real thing! This project kind of brought me back to when I used to wrap my new school books with contact paper. Call me crazy but I love to gift wrap so this was just a larger scale wrapping project in my eyes!
This is my kinda Shiplap Faux Sho!!!
Thank you for flying by my nest little birdies!!!
Happy DIYing!
