Christmas Tour 2024
This year I wanted to incorporate some classic Christmas nostalgia around our home. I wanted it to feel classic and cozy with nods to Christmas in the 1990s. Because let’s be honest those were the days!
The dining room was probably my favorite room to decorate. I figured I’m forty and it was time for me to have a set of Christmas dinnerware. I love both Spode and Lenox but ultimately I chose Lenox because it coordinates better with our dining room with its cream background.
We have light blue host chairs so I wanted to tie in some blue with the classic red and green. I found this perfect madras plaid table runner from Solino Home that had just a touch of blue.
I also was playing around with the napkins and decided to turn the napkins horizontal so they look like big red bows on the plates.
I wish we could go all crazy Clark Griswold with Christmas lights on the exterior of our house, however we only have one outdoor outlet, which is on the newer side of the house where our beloved Santa resides.
I opted for a few plants that would last during the winter months and would be able to be planted later on. I picked up a few holly bushes and a few soft touch hollys for our porch planters and then wrapped ribbon around the planters to make them look like presents added a few battery operated lights and called it a day.
This is our Santa’s second year here on the side porch. He just brings the Jolly doesn’t he? I never thought I’d be into inflatables, but when you have a kid all that goes out the window.
My Mother-in-law bought us this vintage sled back in November of 2022. When she gave it to us I said “That would look really cute with a baby on it…” It took her about 10 seconds to process and then she screamed and hugged me! It was a fun way to tell Chris’ parents we were finally expecting their grandchild!
That evening glow with candles in the windows sure gives me all the feels this time of year.
In our den the tree is mainly mixed metals with a few natural elements like magnolia branches and pinecones. It’s the fourth year I’ve tried to find our Christmas tree skirt and stockings I had monogrammed with no luck. So I bit the bullet and ordered a new one. And I have to say I actually like it better than my original one. They’ve changed the green to a more classic green.
One of my favorite things about having a Christmas tree up is this little dude lying underneath it. He’s done this every year and it warms my heart.
Here’s the first year we got Kato Potato. He was about 8 months old here.
In our powder room I added a few Christmasy bits just to make it feel warm and welcoming. I love having a It’s More Than a Home candle burning in our bathroom when guests are over. Their unique vessels are amazing because you can reuse them when you’re finished with the candle.
This was a Christmas gift to myself. I had been eyeing it for quite sometime and figured I’d treat myself to the wall vase. I love unique pieces like this. I added some ivy along with a hanging bunch of cinnamon to add a little aroma while you’re in here.
My favorite little entry table got a little glow up with a new floral tablecloth and a classic red poinsettia. And of course, another one of my favorite candles from It’s More than a Home. They make the best candles! Did I already mention that? lol
The keeping room off of the kitchen is where we spend a lot of time. It’s the smallest room in the house yet we have made so many memories in here.
I can’t believe our Christmas cactus actually bloomed on time this year. Here she is showing off.
Our newest little addition in the corner is a small table for our girl. She loves it!
I love adding little pops of red in the kitchen for Christmas. Dried oranges are always a good idea as well. I added my mom’s Santa art she made back in 1987. He just brings that nostalgia I was talking about.
I do love a styled sink in the kitchen. Does it stay exactly like this every day? No, not exactly but I do love this little lamp giving some warm ambiance. I recovered the shade with ribbon just to give it a little personality.
Our centerpiece in the kitchen makes me so happy. I found these three little LED trees from the dollar store. Our girl points to them anytime they aren’t on and says “trees”. Honestly you can put anything under a cloche and it will look elevated! Even trees from Dollar Tree! The other light up ones were from Hobby Lobby last year.
I’ve only had a tree in the sitting room one other time, but this year it got its own tree. I went with a mixture of golds, creams and greens.
Every year I like to do a DIY ornament. This year I did large clear acrylic ornaments filled with pearls and crystals finished off with a sage green satin ribbon.
I kept the mantel simple and elegant with gold bowls and sage green satin ribbon to pick up on the tones of our mirror.
The staircase is rather neutral this year with my favorite Christmas tree ribbon I found last year at Hobby Lobby. If you love something there’s no need to replace it year after year.
Just a few scenes on our back porch.
I wish I could bottle up this age. This Christmas is going to be so much fun with our little girl! We did a fun little colorful tabletop tree out here on the porch.
I’ve come to realize I love blue and green with a touch of Christmas red. Even if you have a floral tablecloth that looks more for Spring /Summer you can easily add a Christmas red table runner and a topiary and it’s instantly ready for the holidays. I’m a huge believer in using what you already have.
Lastly is our entryway table that was turned into a Christmas village along with our nativity scene.
Thank you so much for taking the time to fly by today and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Love,
Robyn
