Painting Interior Doors
“Come and knock on our door….we’ve been waiting for you”…. sorry I couldn’t resist!
Painting interior doors seems to be all the rage these days. Wow I sound old. I’m even thinking about painting some of our interior doors a nice black or dark charcoal gray especially since after 10 years the white tends to look a little dingy. Our front interior door was one of the first painting projects I did in our home back in 2016 and I haven’t regretted it since. It’s such a unique door anyway, but once I added a fun color to it, it just makes it even more spectacular!
I kind of put the cart before the horse on this little project. I fell in love with this Robin’s Egg Blue Paint from Rethunk Junk by Laura. I picked it up not knowing what I was going to paint in that color, but I knew I would find the perfect thing.
Here is a picture of our door before. It was a old country blue that was antiqued but in my opinion lacked some life. It was just dull and needed a good fresh pop of color.
(phone image from 2016, so sorry)
One night I called my husband who was out of town on a business trip and asked “Would you mind if I painted the front door?” Keep in mind it was about 9 pm on a weekday, but I was determined. If something gets in my head its hard to get out. He of course didn’t care. So I taped it off and went to town.
(sorry for the quality of this pic from my phone in 2016)
I only did 2 coats of this paint and didn’t put on a top clear coat or anything. I actually liked the finish just how it was.
My advice to you is, if you are thinking about painting your interior door or doors. Just do it! You can always paint over it you don’t like it. Nothing is permanent.
You can order Rethunk Junk by Laura paint here.
Thank you for flying by my nest today!
xoxo,
Robyn
