Shelf Styling Tips
Good afternoon and happy Wednesday! After I wrapped up filming a kitchen cabinet shelf styling video this morning I figured I would hop on here to share a few more shelf styling tips for y’all as well. Let me know in the comments if you came over from Instagram. Let’s get to it to shall we?!
Before I get started I like to set the mood a little bit. I like to put on my favorite music, make a cup of coffee and even light a candle. It helps me focus on the task at hand and it makes it really enjoyable!
Tip #1
Clear off the space first. I like to start with a blank area that way I can visualize it easier than just shuffling things around, and I’m not tempted to restyle it the way it was before.
Tip # 2
Bring in texture with baskets, plants, florals, etc. If you’re styling a space that has a lot of the same tones and textures be sure to bring in some added interest with different tones. Baskets and faux or live plants are a great way to do this. It will break up the monotony of the shelves.
Tip # 3
Vary your heights. Instead of placing everything on one level be sure to add in different heights when grouping things together. This will allow your eye to travel all around instead of on one level. I like to use risers and pedestals to help me get this look.
Tip # 4
Add in some personality with art or photography. In this case I’m using this black and white photograph to showcase my love of that medium.
Tip # 5
Group things in twos and threes. I like to use twos and threes to group items on shelves. It will give the shelves a cohesive look of “collections”.
